Insurance Appraisal Fees
Depending on the complexity of the jewelry, the fee for each item varies from $150.00 - $250.00.
Intricate items might cost more. Simple items such as gold jewelry vary from $80.00 - $100.00 per item. For large collection, an hourly rate of $175.00 will be applied.
Jewelry Appraisal For Insurance
A jewelry appraisal is required by insurance companies before they will insure jewelry beyond certain dollar amounts. The type of value for this intended use is the retail replacement value. The value is determined with the current researched market price of a comparable item in the client’s locale. The value is derived from research on market activity, not the policies or prices of a specific retail jeweler.
The value on an appraisal sets only the upper limit of insurance coverage while determining the premium the insured pay. An appraisal with an over-inflated value will cause the insured to pay a higher premium but it will typically not result in a higher “cash-out” in the event of a loss.
At La Jolla Gem Appraisal, your jewelry will be examined in a secure environment, and you do not need to leave your jewelry during this process. After examination, we will conduct market research and analysis of the jewelry, a comprehensive report will be sent to you within a reasonable time frame depending on each assignment as well as our workload (usually within a week).
